Continua compliant medication monitoring shown in Boston

The Continua Health Alliance of over 170 companies in healthcare will demonstrate interoperable personal health care systems for the first time on October 27th in the Partners Center for Connected Health in Boston, USA.

Cypak is proud to play a central role in this ground breaking demonstration by providing medication monitoring and vital sign device management solutions. The demonstration shows how connected health services will improve client quality of life while reducing costs for health care providers and payers.

Two significant and chronic problems in healthcare management are selected for demonstration – early stage diabetes II and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Medication monitoring is a central feature of effective coaching programs for these major chronic diseases. In US and Europe some 50 million people have diabetes II with many more at risk. COPD alone is estimated to account for 20% of hospital admissions in the UK.

Among the other companies invited to demonstrate are Roche, A&D, Nonin, IBM, Oracle, Intel, Philips, Google, Partners, and the National Health Service (UK).

Chris Johnson, Cypak VP Marketing comments: “Connected health is the way of the future. People want to stay in their own homes and lead normal lives while being in close touch with health care professionals – whether physicians, pharmacists, consultants, or other health and wellness advisers. Making these connections seamless requires the close cooperation of many companies – Continua is delivering.”

Cypak will provide a Continua certified platform to our customers for medication monitoring and for interfacing a wide range of Continua certified devices.
